The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of business development experience at start-ups and large technology or renewable energy / cleantech companies. Candidates must have strong financial and business competence, as they will be working closely with the product, engineering, sales and operations organizations at SunRun. Candidates must be strategic and capable of driving internal and external stakeholders to consensus on important decisions.

Business development at SunRun is responsible for identifying, crafting and negotiating partnerships that enhance our product offerings and generate new distribution opportunities for our solar power service. The position is full-time and based in our main office in downtown San Francisco. This position will report to the Vice President of Sales.

Responsibilities

  • Work with SunRun executive leadership to identify partnerships that make it possible for SunRun and its partners to sell solar power service at scale (millions of homes)
  • Work with SunRun Product team to identify partnerships that extend/enhance the value of SunRun’s product/service offerings
  • Evaluate and explore strategic opportunities
  • Represent SunRun in meetings with senior executives from other companies
  • Manage and close contractual negotiations

Requirements

  • Extensive travel
  • Comfort with a fast-paced, always-on, dynamic start-up environment
  • Experience running business development deals from inception through contracts and launch
  • Track record of building relationships and credibility with senior executives at potential partner companies
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to develop strong working relationships inside and outside SunRun
  • Experience operating in or building a multi-channel sales model
  • Creative, resourceful, detail-oriented, highly organized, very comfortable with data
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Off-the-charts ability to understand organizational dynamics, politics and decision making
  • Ability to meet multiple objectives in an entrepreneurial environment with minimal supervision
  • Extensive negotiation experience, including comfort with legal aspects of negotiations
  • Prior experience working in a high-growth or startup company preferred
