Position Description
This is a tremendous opportunity to be the driver of a significant portion of Sungevity’s business. We know that Sungevity – and solar adoption in general – thrives on social proof.  Mainstream adoption in this nascent category is strongly influenced by the influence of others; friends, family and third party endorsements that motivate people to take action.  At Sungevity, we have seen this firsthand as our most valuable marketing resource is our engaged network of solar enthusiasts – our current customers.  
 
The Director Affinity Marketing will conceive, develop and execute marketing programs designed to drive mainstream solar adoption via 

  1. our network of engaged customers – the Sunshine Network.  and
  2. strategic partnerships with non-profit organizations

 
 Responsibilities

  • Develop strategies and execute annual plans.  Define market opportunities by segment, developing annual sales targets based on marketplace trends and organization growth objectives.
  • Develop the Sunshine Network into a group of engaged Sungevity Ambassadors
  • Creating community, engaging in dialogue, influencing others
  •  Driving customer referrals
  • Extending the lifetime value of each customer – through their level of engagement and amount of referral activity
  • Grow the network of strategic partnerships. Develop and execute campaigns to their members that maximize sales while building brand affinity.
  • Implement loyalty marketing specific programs, promotions, product offerings, selling tools, training events, etc as needed to achieve business objectives
  • Define and deliver required process improvements to achieve goals.
  • Manage and develop execution team
  • Source and mange third party vendors as needed to deliver program components
  • Manage, track and report on financial performance of affinity marketing initiatives including but not limited to weekly performance reports, ROI analyses, budgets, etc.
  • Maintain knowledge base of competitive activity and regularly report to the organization.

Success Measures

  • Achievement of Affinity Marketing annual referral and sales goals
  • Ability to maintain customer engagement and extend the referral lifetime value of each customer
  • Achievement of non-profit organization program enrollment goals
  • Establishment of processes and tools to manage all programs
  • Ability to drive desired community engagement behaviors (network membership, member postings, sharing, policy actions, etc.) measured on individual campaigns and total program performance.
  • Achievement of brand loyalty/engagement goals as defined and measured in brand awareness and attitude tracker

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing or a related field. MBA preferred
  • 12+ years marketing experience including at least five years loyalty/retention marketing experience or strategic partnership management experience
  • Industry and mission passion; strong desire to win and bias to action
  • Understanding of direct marketing dynamics and customer life time value enhancement.
  • Experience developing strategic partnerships that add value business growth
  • Comfortable building strategy and executing it directly… must be a senior do-er
  • Strong analytical and strategic planning skills; detailed oriented and thorough
  • Strong team orientation.
  • Strong written, oral, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams without formal authority.
  • Comfortable operating in a fast paced, high growth start up environment.

Ability to manage multiple projects.
