Description

Point Carbon is looking to build its North American business by adding a manager to its power analysis group in Washington, D.C. The power analysis group delivers daily fundamental analyses and forecasts for the global power markets. The analyses are published via the internet and are tailored to the needs of traders and analysts.

Main tasks and responsibilities

  • Head of the North American power team, reporting to global head power analysis
  • Design and build analysis tools for the North American power markets
  • Development and maintenance of models based on fundamental data including load models, nuclear outage models, wind models, hydrological models, price models
  • Project management
  • Personnel responsibility for North American power team
  • Customer contact and discussion
  • Identification and implementation of new products

 

Qualifications

  • Higher education with background in mathematics, statistics or economics
  • Minimum of 5 years experience conducting research and/or analysis in the US deregulated power markets
  • Strong academic record
  • Excellent understanding of traded energy markets
  • Good working knowledge of analytical tools such as GAMS, Excel, Matlab, etc.
  • Outstanding analytical skills
  • Systematic and result oriented
  • Excellent teamwork and communication skills
  • Management experience
  • Business development experience
