The Director of Marketing and Collaborating Company Engagement will develop strategies to encourage and enable businesses that have relationships with the Rainforest Alliance to promote their sustainability commitments. S/he will provide support to campaigns and marketing initiatives and ensure that the Rainforest Alliance brand is well understood and integrated into company messaging.
Responsibilities:
Establish the Rainforest Alliance’s marketing priorities, strategies, and tactics globally, in close collaboration with colleagues;
Engage with marketing staff of collaborating companies in North America and with their retained agencies to encourage and guide their promotion of sustainability, their relationship with Rainforest Alliance and their understanding and adoption of our brand messaging;
Ensure company campaigns and promotions globally that are related to the Rainforest Alliance are accurate and resonate with key audiences;
Encourage businesses to actively engage in Rainforest Alliance campaigns and promotions, providing them with effective tools and creative campaign strategies to do so;
Forecast and identify sustainability marketing and promotion trends and challenges;
Lead on developing content of the marketing section on the Rainforest Alliance website to ensure that it serves as an effective resource;
Develop and comply with relevant plans, reports and budgets; and
Other duties assigned.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position oversees the Marketing Coordinator.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in Communications, English, Marketing or related field required;
Graduate degree in Communications, English, Marketing or related field preferred;
Minimum 10 years of relevant work experience in marketing and promotion with a company, agency and/or organization;
Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to concepts underlying sustainability;
Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
Excellent organizational and research skills and close attention to detail;
Ability to work in close collaboration and coordination with colleagues, leading initiatives as well as participating in initiatives lead by others;
Familiarity with the latest trends, technologies and methodologies in marketing and promotion;
Dependability, diplomacy and ability to work independently; and
Ability to travel up to 30 percent nationally and internationally.
