Director, International Outreach, Ocean Health Index

Location: United States- Arlington, VA Headquarters
Job Code: 543
# of openings: 1

Description

The Ocean Health Index is a relatively new scientific framework developed to inform decisions in policy and business. We have enjoyed success including the adoption of the Index by international governments to produce regional versions of the Index to guide national ocean policy. The Index is the first comprehensive study of the human-ocean interface, based on the premise that a thriving ocean delivers resources and services that people need. The Index Director oversees the whole project, particularly overseeing all communications including the website, social media, conferences, and fund-raising. Working with field teams at Conservation International and other NGO’s the Index team offers governments the opportunity to use the Index framework to produce regional Index assessments. This is a direct and powerful method to see the Index become a worldwide standard. The Director works with a small team to oversee the entire project including the science development of the Index; outreach to international governments and multilaterals such as the UN. In the coming year the Director will develop proposals to apply the Index to the Private Sector. This is a challenging position with enormous future potential.
