The Director of Gift Planning will work closely with the Vice President, Philanthropy and development leadership team and is responsible for all aspects of National Wildlife Federation’s comprehensive Gift Planning program.  The Director will focus the team’s efforts on programs such as: bequests, charitable gift annuities, charitable trusts, and other planned gifts, and work with the membership department on targeted marketing –audiences, creative, tracking.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Setting and achieving annual revenue goals, long-range direction, and activities within the Gift Planning program.  Oversees development and implementation of the department’s annual work plan to indentify a continuing stream of planned giving prospects.
  • Supervises and develops staff, including coordination and training of new staff, outlining and communicating job requirements and expectations; provides educational and training opportunities for the team.
  • Manages portfolio of 20-30 gift planning prospects; responsible for the cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship of these prospects; oversees the design, development, implementation and direction of stewardship and cultivation strategies for securing planned gifts.
  • Provides creative direction, oversight, and evaluation for all marketing efforts of the gift planning program; comprehensive direct mail program for gift annuities, trusts, bequests, and other planned gifts; individualized proposals, illustrations, acknowledgements, analysis, evaluation and reporting of results.
  • Stays abreast of all planned giving vehicles, and develops and maintains current understanding of relevant tax, probate, trust and financial/estate planning information; works closely with the appropriate departments to ensure that servicing, administration and stewarding of deferred giving arrangements are handled promptly and efficiently; oversees donor management and tracking systems to ensure technical, financial, and administrative functions are performed and stewardship occurs.
  • Creates and oversees annual income and expense budget for gift planning program; provides advice on solicitation strategies, especially related to tax and estate planning benefits, to NWF’s major gift fundraisers.  Adjust strategies as needed to meet revenue goals and objectives.
