The International Center for Biosaline Agriculture (ICBA) is looking to appoint a dynamic and influential Director General to lead the next stage of the organisations growth & evolution. ICBA is an international research and development organization dedicated to sustainable agricultural production and water resources management with a special focus on saline water resources and salt-affected lands. Its unique mission is conduct research and field studies on the adaptation, transfer and use of biosaline agriculture in the production of environmentally and economically useful crops and plants within sustainable management of water resources. Furthermore, its biosaline agriculture activities are targeted to the needs of countries in arid and semi-arid regions as a means to conserve fresh water and make productive and sustainable use of saline lands. Summary of Duties and Responsibilities: The selected candidate will be responsible for overall management and operation of the Centre and will lead its strategic development and plans. In this endeavor, the Director General will be accountable for strategic innovations in programs, policies, partnerships and technical network, donors' relations and fund-generation activities. Qualifications: Eligible candidates should have:
- Recognized leadership and management experience in research and international development.
- Adequate experience and records in fund raising and partnership with donors.
- Excellent skills in communication and high quality presentation.
- Reasonable experience and knowledge about international agricultural research and national research systems.
- Experience of leading an international institution with multi-cultural staff and stakeholders.
- A strong academic background in agriculture, water and irrigation or another relevant discipline.
- Minimum of (10) years of managerial experience in R&D in irrigation and water management and/or agronomy/crops/arid land agriculture.
- Minimum of (10) years of international development experience.
Fluency in English and Arabic is an absolute prerequisite.
