General Summary:

The Global Engineering Team is a high performance engineering organization and global business partner in delivering strategic value based solutions and innovative technologies. Our mission is to provide engineering leadership and expertise in support of Campbell’s global growth, innovation and Supply Chain strategies.

As a member of the Global Engineering Team, you will be responsible for providing leadership in developing, managing and directing the Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety strategies and activities associated with our worldwide facilities. The successful candidate is a master level practitioner who utilizes a broad knowledge base to provide direction in the development and implementation of tactical and strategic objectives that ensure compliance on a global basis. The candidate also is required to provide day-to-day management and evaluation of the Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety staff members.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Direct responsibility for Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety global programs/policies and their consistent administration; reporting directly to the Vice President of Global Engineering
  • Possess a thorough understanding of Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety regulatory requirements, standards and practices and be capable of managing initiatives that range in both size and complexity.
  • Develop and lead Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety process improvement strategies and implementation across the global manufacturing network.
  • Main liaison and subject matter expert with legal and local, state, and federal government agencies as it relates to the Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety programs.
  • Provide leadership dealing with outside engineering and consulting firms, to analyze, evaluate and solve Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety related matters at worldwide operations.
  • Manage the facility audit program and develop auditing strategies to enhance the Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety program effectiveness and regulatory compliance.
  • Develop Company strategies that provide reliable and effective Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety behavior based solutions to achieve world class results.
  • Possess the ability to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization from plant floor through to senior leadership.
  • Manage the development and implementation of Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety metrics and provide direction and the necessary training for plant personnel to effectively report results.
  • Provide coaching and training/development for team members to build our internal capabilities to ensure Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety program compliance.
  • Prepare written communications that are clear and concise to convey relevant information to internal and external audiences related to our Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety program.
  • Stay current and continuously improve the program by leveraging continuous learning, staying abreast of relevant technologies and regulations, and identifying industry best practices through industry associations, vendor contacts, formal seminars, workshops, and peer group companies.
  • Work with worldwide plant personnel to ensure Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety regulatory compliance and provide direction to meet our corporate sustainability goals.
  • Provide direction to Real Estate and Corporate Strategy groups with the acquisition and divestiture of properties and businesses.
  • Develop and evaluate Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety plans and standards, assess the feasibility of proposed options, and coordinate efforts to ensure successful program implementation.
  • Develop Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety talent including selection of field resources as well as coach and coordinate the professional development of all Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety professionals.
  • Ensure implementation of Environmental, Occupational Health and Safety related information technology – MyOsh, Sharepoint, OHM. CARMA, AON, CEMMS.
  • Provide updates as required to support external communications – C.S.R., Dow Jones, etc.

Job Complexity:

 

  • 24-hour accountability for the entire Environmental, Occupational Health & Safety function; must be available round-the-clock to provide guidance and directions and address high risk issues that impact the company.
  • Must possess the ability to overcome resistance to organizational change, influence all employees to embrace it, and lead the change initiative.
  • Must be able to simultaneously prioritize and execute multiple initiatives based on business needs.
  • Must develop and maintain rapport with employees at all levels of the organization and must interface effectively with multiple departments/functions.
  • Communicate clearly with technical and non-technical functions.
  • Demonstrate leadership skills with the ability to perform in a matrix team based environment.
  • Delegate key tasks to core and extended team members.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering required, along with 15+ years of related experience.
  • Minimum of 5 years Environmental, Occupational Health & Safety leadership experience with responsibility for multiple locations.
  • Environmental, Occupational Health & Safety knowledge required to independently plan, prioritize and manage programs that ensure compliance and continues improvement.
  • Master level understanding of plant manufacturing environment and must be a demonstrated change agent.
  • Related experience in the food or beverage industry highly desired.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills; able to communicate at any organizational level. Must possess strong training/facilitation skills.
  • Outstanding analytical, problem-solving, and decision making skills. Ability to use data to drive decisions.
  • Basic Financial Acumen: An understanding of basic accounting principles, cash flow, budgetary control, break-even analysis, ROI, NPV, forecasting, etc. in order to make informed program business decisions
  • Experience with MS Office required.
  • Ability to travel up to 40% required.

Working Conditions:

  • This position is based in World Headquarters. Moderate travel is required.
