Mote Marine Laboratory has an opportunity for a passionate marine science educator with a track record of successful program development and evaluation to lead a creative, collaborative, and committed education work group. The Director of the Center for School and Public Programs will define and implement the vision and goals for the on-site education programs at Mote Marine Laboratory’s main campus in Sarasota and at appropriate field stations. Mote’s new Director will: (1) increase participation in on-site programming annually, (2) implement a consistent, Center-wide evaluation program to ensure program outcomes are met, (3) implement mechanisms to provide expanded access to programming for underserved and underrepresented audiences, and (4) foster a working environment that is energetic, innovative, and collaborative.

All applicants must have at least bachelor’s degree in education, science, or a related field, 5 years experience in nonformal science education program development and delivery, and 2 years experience supervising staff and managing budgets. A master’s degree in education, business, or related field is strongly preferred, as is experience in designing and/or conducting outcomes-based evaluations of nonformal education programming, with grant writing, and in reaching underserved and underrepresented audiences.

S/he is a dynamic presenter, a tireless innovator, and an enthusiastic collaborator and networker who believes deeply in Mote and its mission. Does this sound like you?
