SunEdison Capital

SunEdison Capital was formed in March of 2013, building on SunEdison's track record of raising over five billion dollars of project finance capital over the last five years the division focuses on aggregating capital to develop, build and finance the long-term ownership of solar power plants. SunEdison Capital develops internal and external capital funds and facilities, playing a key role in financing the growth of SunEdison's solar business, including project pipeline of more than 2.7 Gigawatts.

SUMMARY OF FUNCTIONS

The Global Business Development organization is responsible for managing all acquisition, investment, and equity-related transactions across all of SunEdison’s geographies. As the solar PV landscape evolves the Business Development organization works across strategy, regional business units, various technology groups (e.g. solar components, advanced solutions, software) and functional areas (e.g. finance, tax, legal) to evaluate, analyze and execute strategic partnerships which help SunEdison to maintain and grow its leadership position in the industry.

As a member of the Global Business Development team, you will work collaboratively across functions to identify and evaluate both acquisition and investment opportunities. Acting in accordance with SunEdison’s values, you bring strong quantitative skills, strategic thinking and sound business judgment, providing the management team with the needed insight to drive intelligent, sound decision-making. This position will report to the VP of Strategic Relationships.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage business development activities ranging from evaluating and executing public / private company acquisitions, joint ventures, and minority investments
  • Work with multi-functional teams to develop transaction rationale. Transaction sizes can range from multi-hundred million dollar to sub-five million dollar investments
  • Build relationships with technology and regional counterparts, design and construct analytical frameworks to make decisions, identify business and operational opportunities and risks, and assist in coordinating and managing internal and external service providers (legal, accounting, investment banking, consulting)
  • Assemble and lead post-close integration teams and processes
  • Understand and stay current on industry trends, competitive landscape and internal executive strategy
  • Deliver insights and recommendations to senior management to drive acquisition and investment decisions

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Four year college degree (BA/BS). MBA or other advance degree preferred
  • 5+ years of experience structuring, conducting diligence, negotiating and closing corporate transactions. 7+ years of relevant work experience preferred
  • Strong analytical and modeling skills – substantial experience modeling business combinations and running valuation analyses
  • Experience identifying and assessing deal issues related to legal, accounting and tax
  • Demonstrated ability to work with large, cross-functional teams (e.g. accountants, lawyers, consultants)
  • Substantial buy-side M&A experience preferred
  • Experience leading buy-side integration efforts post-closing preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to work across international bodies and standards preferred
  • Solar, energy or technology industry knowledge and cross-border transaction experience preferred
