About the Angkor Centre for Conservation of Biodiversity (ACCB)

The Angkor Centre for Conservation of Biodiversity (ACCB), located on 25 hectares of land at the historical site of Kbal Spean in the Phnom Kulen National Park, about 40-50 km north of Siem Reap and the temples of Angkor, is the first Nature Conservation Centre in Cambodia. ACCB conserves globally threatened species through rescue, breeding, and restocking of native Cambodian wildlife along with field-based conservation and environmental education activities.

During its more than 10 years of existence, ACCB has become an important conservation NGO within the region. Major achievements, among others, are the successful rehabilitation and release in several threatened species as well as important field research findings such as first evidence of existence of several species in the region or country and description of new species.

In recent years, ACCB has also developed from an insiders' tip for wildlife enthusiasts to a recognized tourist attraction in the region: Apart from guided centre tours offered twice a day during which national and international visitors get the opportunity to learn first-hand about wildlife and conservation issues in Cambodia as well as activities specially designed for visiting groups of national and international students, the education program put major emphasis on raising awareness of conservation issues in the region.
