E3G on behalf of Climate Briefing Service (CBS) seeks a Diplomatic Analyst to contribute to a new, innovative, unbranded initiative to raise ambition in the lead up to the Paris climate negotiations in 2015. 

The overarching objective of CBS is to create a highly professional diplomatic informal service to support a range of actors in the achievement of an ambitious 2015 climate agreement coupled with stronger national ambition for the post-2020 time period. 

To do so, CBS will provide a series of communications and briefing products so that a diverse set of allies and constituencies can effectively intervene for greater ambition in the coming two years.
This objective will be achieved through a supporting service to synthesize and analyze information and intelligence from national and international networks to resource allies enabling tactical interventions at the national and international 

level for a series of events over the coming two years including the Paris 2015 meeting. 

The Diplomatic Analyst / Writer will lead strategic and political thinking to help develop tactical intervention for our clients.
Responsibilities

  • Synthesise and analyse intelligence to inform real-time knowledge and understanding of key events; and assess the quality of intelligence through triangulation and stress-testing processes
  • Develop political updates will outline trends and dynamics and identify key pressure points for interventions
  • Identify and develop range of appropriate, creative and effective tactical interventions to influence and secure core political outcomes
  • Contribute to the development of political scenarios around key events
  • Work with colleagues within the network to develop a range of tailored compelling briefings for individuals or organisations to support tactical interventions
  • Required Skills
  • Excellent ability to communicate concise political analysis to a variety of political and corporate audiences
  • Outstanding expertise and confidence in writing compelling, high quality political briefings
  • Ability to undertake outreach to colleagues in a variety of geographies
  • Exceptional ability to respond to dynamic political developments and reprioritise rapidly whilst delivering high quality products
  • Outcome focused experience in developing tactical interventions to achieve strategic political objectives
  • Brings an entrepreneurial spirit, but is also a strong team player

Qualifications

  • Minimum 6 years experience in international relations and political analysis
