PROTECTING OUR ENVIRONMENT WITH INTELLIGENCE. The Environmental Investigation Agency (EIA) is a 501(c)(3) independent, international, non-profit advocacy organization based in Washington, D.C. with a proven record of triggering and affecting systemic change to protect the Earth’s environment. Over the last three decades, EIA has established a unique paradigm of methods to drive change – including pioneering the use of undercover investigative techniques to expose environmental crime and drive impact. These crimes include illegal trade in endangered wildlife, illegal logging and associated trade in illegal timber, and the trade in both climate-damaging and ozone-layer-depleting gases.

Position description: EIA-US is seeking a creative and highly motivated Digital Communications Specialist to join one of the most dynamic advocacy teams in Washington DC. As a key member of the media production and communication team, the Digital Communications Specialist will dedicate their creativity, talents, and energy to produce and create digital content for multi-platform online distribution, outreach, advocacy and engagement.

Primary Supervisor: Media Production Manager

Secondary Supervisor: Head of Communications

Main roles and responsibilities:

? Lead the creation, development, production and management of graphic design in close coordination with the team.

? Create original digital content including, graphics, animation, text, video and photos for external online communications, website, and other public channels/platforms.

? Develop website subpages and additional digital web content as needed

? Support with communications campaign and advocacy development efforts for Forests, Wildlife, and Climate campaign teams to develop strategic communications content as needed

? Work with the fundraising team to generate in house production of network appeals for donor engagement, outreach and digital fundraising

? Maintain asset archive database, internal information sharing and content management systems; ensure best practices are followed; maintained and regularly updates occur in google drive, hard drives, social media/websites, creative contact databases etc.

? Work closely with external vendors and third-party consultants to generate communication product deliverables

? Supervision of production interns and assistants

? Management and maintenance of media production equipment and editing/design software.

Essential Expertise and Qualifications

? Minimum of 3 years of demonstrated working experience as digital production specialist or similar relevant working experience,

? Demonstrated graphic design skills and proficiency in design software (Adobe Illustrator, etc)

? Passion for environmental and human rights issues.

? Ability to multitask and change focuses quickly and easily.

? Ability to work independently or collaboratively as needed.

? Experience with social media and website maintenance.

? Experience with photo and video production and editing.

? Exhibited creativity and passion for learning. Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills, including the ability to collaborate and work well in a team.

? Self-motivated with an ability to juggle multiple priorities, handle assignments independently, and work under tight deadlines.

? Ability to work independently with minimal supervision, including proactively identifying problems and working with team members to develop solutions.

? Good work ethic, high standards, strong organizational skills and the ability to work independently as well as in a team.

Other Desirable Qualifications:

? Bachelor’s degree in relevant field or completion of vocational design school or courses preferred.

? Foreign language skills, particularly Spanish, Chinese and/or French, is a plus

? Demonstrable experience and/or significant interest related to environmental justice, conservation, or policy; sustainable supply chains; or relevant fields and issue areas
