Description

EDF is beginning an ambitious content marketing strategy to raise the visibility of our work, influence conversations and connect with new supporters. We're seeking an experienced digital marketer to develop and maintain myriad distribution channels to reach and influence key markets and audiences who appreciate our practical, science- and economics-based approach to protecting natural systems. The mix of channels will include partnerships, online PR, social media, and search engine marketing. 

Responsibilities:

  • Implement and further develop EDF's content marketing strategy, getting our content in front of targeted audiences and developing new content distribution channels.
  • Guide research about our audiences' interests, needs, affinities and online habits in order to better position EDF's content to connect with them.
  • In collaboration with the content creation team, generate ideas for new kinds of content that tap into distribution opportunities and audience interests.
  • Monitor the success of our content marketing through both qualitative and quantitative methods, and use insights to refine our strategy.
  • Support EDF staff from different departments in their own online outreach, including training them, coaching them and consulting with them on strategy.
  • Build and grow the skills of a small team of digital marketing specialists.
  • Identify successful practices within and outside of EDF, and keep abreast of digital communication techniques in general (from microblogging and social networking to podcasting and mobile engagement), bringing new insights and opportunities to all EDF staff who are engaged in digital outreach.
  • Be EDF's internal expert on SEO to optimize visibility of EDF content.
  • Identify ways to expand and improve EDF's digital platforms and overall digital strategy.


Qualifications:

  • At least five years of digital marketing experience, with an emphasis on building content distribution relationships and online pitching. Experience advising thought leaders or working in issue or political advocacy is preferred.
  • Familiarity with a wide variety of digital marketing methods, and a demonstrated ability to select an appropriate mix to achieve specific goals.
  • Ability to extract and position the most relevant angles or pieces of our stories according an audience's interests.
  • Commitment to using data to drive learning and decisions, and the ability to apply data in valid and consistent ways.
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, including the ability to represent an organization's or expert's value to potential partners.
  • Ability to prioritize constantly shifting opportunities and be strategically opportunistic.
  • Excellent judgment about how to communicate appropriately within a complex, decentralized organization, especially about potentially controversial topics.
  • Excellent coaching and mentorship skills.
