Want to make cool stuff that changes the world? Want to make digital tools that are both remarkable and practical? You'll need to be quick with HTML/CSS/JS, good at interaction design, and play well with others. You'd be a member of the Greenpeace International Communications team that's responsible for the getting people active online (and offline) on international campaigns. We've made some pretty cool stuff in the past. Now we want to make cooler stuff faster with 1000% more awesome (that's where you come in). Our team is part of a larger communications team that includes expertise in everything from video production to traditional media outreach to Twitter. In turn, we work with Greenpeace offices all around the world. Our recent work to get Mattel to use more sustainable toy packaging was rolled out in 36 countries, 21 languages.

Develop, implement and coordinate international digital campaigns and communications by producing quality online content, integrating latest online technologies and trends, under the guidance of communication managers in order to achieve campaign objectives, recruit online activists, and increase Greenpeace’s profile and support.

  • Lead and manage online projects in addition to acting as part of a team, under the guidance of communications managers, applying problem solving skills to complex international online projects and operating in a fast changing environment in order to enable the realisation of key campaign and organisational objectives
  • Provide expertise, develop, initiate, adjust and oversee the creation and implementation of innovative, creative, pro-active and reactive online media strategies in line with Greenpeace editorial and branding policies and work closely with colleagues in NROs to ensure maximum impact of global campaign strategies
  • Create, or commission from internal and external providers, content and interactive campaign tools for online media (including for translation at national/regional level), ensuring integration of existing internet, social media and publication tools
  • Monitor and analyse relevant online traffic and online conversion rates on an ongoing basis, conduct polling, focus group, and audience assessments, and adjust marketing and promotional strategies in response to increase effectiveness of Greenpeace’s online presence
  • Develop and advise on innovative ways to promote digital campaigns among existing Greenpeace audience groups and online communities, and to reach out to new audiences, in line with branding guidelines, in order to increase Greenpeace’s profile and support.
  • Bachelors degree several years experience as an Internet or Intranet web master or content manager with basic HTML skills
  • Relevant experience in social or environmental activism or advocacy
  • Knowledge of internet culture and close familiarity with the tools and landscape of the online world
  • Knowledge and experience of web usability and optimisation Experience in creative writing and editing
  • Project management and problem solving experience
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Fluent written and spoken English
  • Creativity and ability to think out of the box and chase new opportunities
  • Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects and to meet tight deadlines, including a flexible mindset regarding working hours.
