DIGITAL COMMUNICATIONS AND MARKETING OFFICER

AREA- South West Lakes operates across Devon and Cornwall and parts of Somerset and Dorset.

BASE- Flexible / hybrid role with base office location to be agreed.

TYPE- Permanent, full-time (37.5 hours a week)

SALARY- £21,500 - £23,500 per annum

REPORT- Communications and Marketing Manager

Introduction

We’re looking for a digital communications and marketing officer to join our small, friendly and collaborative team. Although we’d love our new team member to already know everything, passion and enthusiasm are just as important to us – so if you think this role could be for you, but you don’t have all the relevant knowledge, skills or experience, we still want to hear from you if you’re willing to learn.

Role

As part of the Communications and Marketing team, implement South West Lakes' communications and marketing strategy to reach more people and build stronger relationships with our audiences and stakeholders. We also have a subsidiary charity, Wheal Martyn Clay Works, with its own communications and marketing strategy, which you will also help to deliver.

  • Play a key role in engaging with our visitors and communities via our digital platforms, increasing people's awareness of South West Lakes / Wheal Martyn and how our work benefits people and the environment in our region
  • Deliver marketing and charitable campaigns to drive footfall to our lakes and Wheal Martyn and support our fundraising objectives
  • Coordinate, create content for and manage our social media channels
  • Responsible for updating the South West Lakes and Wheal Martyn websites
  • Maintain and update listings on third party websites
  • Create engaging written, graphic, photographic and video content for a variety of audiences and platforms
  • Design posters, flyers, newsletters and other marketing materials, following the relevant brand guidelines
  • Support colleagues to work within our brand guidelines
  • Curate, manage and grow photo and video portfolios for South West Lakes and Wheal Martyn 
  • Assist with organising and attending events, open days and external exhibitions
  • Collect and present data to help us monitor our digital performance
  • Liaise with a wide range of colleagues to encourage them to contribute content, photographs and ideas

About you

  • Motivated and enthusiastic team player with the ability to work independently 
  • Effective communicator, both oral and written e.g. ability to compose engaging and conversational written content with accurate grammar and spelling
  • Willingness to learn - training and development is possible where candidates might not have all the relevant experience

Desirable knowledge, experience & skills

  • Experience of managing and writing content for a website content management system
  • Experience of delivering social media campaigns
  • Experience in identifying target audiences and devising / implementing campaigns that engage, inform and motivate
  • Knowledge of digital marketing principles and brand management
  • Knowledge of effective social media techniques
  • IT literate, including PowerPoint, Excel and Word
  • Good analytical skills and attention to details e.g. good proof reading skills
  • A creative flair and working knowledge of Photoshop, InDesign and / or Canva
  • Awareness of SEO and Google Analytics - the role will include the opportunity to learn more

Qualifications

Educated to degree level or equivalent, or experience in communications, marketing, public relations or similar

  • Full and valid driving licence
