Salary:

£30,000 – £38,000 pro rata - dependent on experience

Annual holiday & benefits:

25 days including UK public holidays

2 duvet days

2 volunteering days

Hours:

Full time (35hrs/wk) preferred although part time considered

Core hours: M-F, 7hrs spanning 10am - 4pm

Work location:

We run UN endorsed programmes that empower people to lead happier, healthier and more sustainable lives to reduce their energy, waste, water.

We are looking for a web whiz who wants to help us change the world.

In this newly created position the “Online, Digital & IT” (ODIT) Manager will play a pivotal role in supporting our dynamic and fast growing charity to take our award winning behaviour change approaches online. We are looking for an engaging and passionate person with a high level of web-and-IT literacy to lead our web projects and support colleagues on a day-to-day basis. Working closely with project teams, clients and suppliers, they will manage engaging online solutions to help our champions across the world to take action on sustainability issues.

The successful candidate will be a highly motivated individual who can lead on the following three areas:

  1. 1.      Web Development – 45%
  • Manage the Global Action Plan website and the design and development of new websites and online platforms for our programmes.
    • Manage relationships with service providers: web design and development agencies

 

  1. 2.      Digital Programme Content & User Management – 45%
  • Confidently work with clients and other delivery partners to ensure that the web/IT aspects of our programmes are managed and delivered on time, to budget and to a great standard.
  • Manage general website testing and maintenance e.g. bug fixes and enhancements, directly or through managing suppliers.
  1. 3.      Internal Application and Web Management – 10%
  • Lead liason with GAP’s external IT support provider and where needed provide additional basic IT support, training and assistance for the wider GAP office
  • Administrator for a number of applications (i.e. Salesforce), managing customisations where necessary for GAP’s needs and managing users.

Key skills and experience

We are seeking someone who is educated to degree level or above in Computer Science or an IT related field and ideally has three or more years' experience working with web related technology.  

Required

Working closely with designers, agencies and clients the successful candidate will demonstrate:

  • Familiarity with LAMP software bundle elements ( the web development bundle our developers are using for our new web sites)
  • Exceptional and pro-active communication and organizational skills
  • A solid understanding of the project life-cycle of web site development
  • Confidence using CMS’ to populate and maintain complex web sites
  • An aptitude to think creatively and innovate with technology
  • A flair for creative design, particularly relating to user interaction with web applications and other software products.
  • The ability to consult on implementation issues, test code, recommend improvements, and contribute to product development, based on GAP’s client requirements.
  • The ability to support tasks, enhancements and mainstream development
  • A working knowledge of Google Analytics
  • A sound working knowledge of current social media applications for enhanced use and integration within GAP’s digital and online presence

Desirable:

In addition the following experience and skills are applicable, although not all are essential for the role:

-      Graphic design e.g. use of InDesign / PS

-       Copy writing  

-       Web design for school audiences (ages 5-18)
