The Devils River Project Director plans, develops, manages and advances conservation programs for the Devils River Project. The Project Director provides technical leadership and support to the Texas Chapter. This includes the following functions:
- Serve as an active participant in concepts and knowledge of groundwater sustainability and foster research to identify threats and strategies for the long-term protection of the Devils River
- Develops and implements conservation plans and strategies for Dolan Falls Preserve and Devils River Project area, including implementing and/or revising existing Conservation Action Plan and Preserve Management Plan
- Furthers the Conservancy’s strategic goals through identifying land for conservation benefit
- Complies with Conservancy Standard Operating Procedures on conservation easements in the Devils River Project area, including annual compliance monitoring
- Responsible for Devils River Project area landowner extension and outreach including solutions to address critical threats to natural systems and species to benefit nature and people
- Plans and directs Devils River Project public outreach, programs and operations, including coordination of community support
- Plans, directs and implements Dolan Falls Preserve management programs and stewardship
- Lead, develop and implement policies for Dolan Falls Preserve use, visitation (guests, researchers, donors and partners) and volunteer programs
- Coordinate and participate with Chapter Philanthropy staff on donor use of Dolan Falls Preserve
- Fosters cross-site learning among conservation community
- Prescribed burn assistance – must be able to maintain required physical fitness standards and NWCG certifications
