Development Project Manager – Jordan

Mainstream is currently recruiting for a Development Project Manager to develop a 50MW Solar Project in Jordan.

A Development Project Manager is required to work with the General Manager Middle East in developing the 50MW Al Mafraq Solar project in Jordan.

This project is being developed in a JV with another party, as such the candidate will be expected to work closely with our JV partners.  The candidate will have to understand the sensitivities of working with a JV partner and will require both project management and relationship management skills.

The candidate will lead the development of the Al Mafraq Solar Project including preparing budgets, organizing consultants and other third parties providing services, working with specialist Mainstream teams and reporting to management on project progress. The candidate will deliver a fully permitted and developed solar project and be responsible for handing the project over to Mainstream’s Delivery teams.

The candidate will be located in Jordan at a location within a short driving distance of the Al Mafraq Solar project and in close proximity to the main project stakeholders.

The successful candidate must be able to work on their own, given suitable targets and guidelines from management.  The candidate should demonstrate infrastructure project development experience in the Jordanian market, preferably energy projects, and a thorough understanding of the Jordanian energy market and stakeholders. The candidate will preferably have experience developing utility scale solar or other renewable energy projects.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare a complete budget for the development of the Al Mafraq Solar Project to a fully permitted state where the project is ready to be financed and constructed
• Manage the development of the project in accordance to the budget
• Manage consultants (e.g. Health and Safety, EIA, legal) and other Third Parties who will provide input to the project
• Manage input from Mainstream expert teams in other regions e.g. Health and Safety, Energy Analysis, Engineering
• Manage the inclusion of the Project into Mainstream’s project control process by working with development teams in Dublin
• Reporting to Senior Management on the progress of the Project
• Handing a fully developed project over to Mainstream’s delivery teams

Knowledge and Skill requirements

• Several years’ experience in project development essential
• Thorough understanding of the Jordanian energy market and stakeholders
• Comfortable working with JV partners
• Experience in the relationship management of Third Party counterparties
• Proven track record in project management and budgeting skills
• Fluency in the development milestones and economics of energy infrastructure project development, preferably solar or wind project development
• Appreciation of cultural sensitivities of working in the region, including ‘norms’ of doing business in the region, while representing an international company.
