Position: Development Officer

Location: NYC, Full Time
Salary: Commensurate with experience

Panthera is seeking a fundraiser with experience securing six-figures gifts from individuals, to be based in the Tri-State area. Reporting to the Deputy Director of Development, this position will be a key member of the organization’s development team and manage a portfolio of individual donors and prospects and cultivate new relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize Moves Management to identify, cultivate, and solicit both existing and prospective Panthera supporters to build a portfolio of approximately 100 individual donors (some of whom give through foundation vehicles) capable of giving between $100,000 and $1,000,000 to the organization, ideally through multi-year commitments;
  • Accurately track stewardship needs for individual donors in his/her portfolio, working with Panthera’s Donor Communications Lead as well as leveraging existing resources to provide timely and consistent reports on progress and to solicit ongoing support for programmatic priorities;
  • Attend donor meetings and implement cultivation activities, either personally or by providing appropriate support to Panthera executives and scientists, targeting four ‘touches’ per donor each year to qualify donors, renew gifts, increase giving, steward donors, and secure first time gifts;
  • Contribute to fundraising strategy discussions, including annual development plans, events, campaigns, and new development tools such as prospect research and development tracking databases;
  • Travel locally and regionally up to 50%, and work evenings and weekends as necessary;
  • May lead teams and manage project timelines for select projects deemed relevant to this role;
  • Help develop written and other materials as needed to attract and maintain support;
  • Develop a robust network of conservation, finance, communications, and philanthropy colleagues to achieve all required outcomes; and
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Three or more years of fundraising experience focused on securing support from high-capacity individuals and a proven track record of closing gifts of $100K-$1M+;
  • Proven track record of accomplishment in achieving fundraising and/or business goals;
  • Experience with (or willingness to learn and utilize) Moves Management;
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills;
  • Entrepreneurial, results-oriented, highly organized;
  • Respect for diversity and ability to function well in multicultural environment;
  • Knowledge of SalesForce, Microsoft office and donor research techniques preferred; and
  • Bachelor's degree required.
