Development Officer – This position closes on 12/19/2008
Ecology Project International seeks a Development Officer (DO) to develop, implement, evaluate, and oversee a major gifts program that supports the development and growth of EPI. The DO works collaboratively with the Advancement Director to develop EPI’s fundraising strategies and systems.
Primary Responsibilities:
• Generate a robust major gifts program; developing and maintaining a major donor prospect identification, cultivation, retention and upgrading program
• Take personal responsibility for managing a significant number of prospects and donors
• Strategically involve EPI staff and Board to cultivate and strengthen donor relations and identify potential donors
• Enhance EPI fundraising events that interface and engage major donors and prospects, including annual fundraiser, house parties, adult trips
• Collaborate with the development team in fundraising planning and evaluation; ensuring overlap and integration of various strategies
• Oversee any special projects assigned by the Advancement Director or Executive Director and designated as high priority.
• Maintain good humor and apply professional, common-sense solutions to everyday challenges.
Qualifications:
Required:
• Demonstrated success as an individual performer in a fund-raising capacity, with demonstrated growth in funds acquired
• Five or more years of relevant fundraising experience, preferably with major gifts
• Excellent networking, cultivation and relationship building skills
• Embraces the mission and goals of EPI
• Familiarity and/or direct experience with board of directors and governance
• Knowledge of and experience with donor tracking technology; competence with Microsoft, Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
Preferred:
• English and Spanish proficiency;
• Experience living and working in Latin America, especially Mexico, Costa Rica, and/or Ecuador.
• Direct experience with all areas of donor relations, including special events, planned giving, capital campaigns
Schedule: The Development Officer will work full time in our Missoula office with occasional travel for events and donor visits.
