Description

We are looking for a talented and friendly individual to complete our dive and watersports company in the Maldives. The successful candidate will be responsible to develop, implement and conduct a “Go-Eco – Programme” in cooperation with us and the resort.

 

Potential scope of the programme (not fixed yet):

-       Dolphin spotting and identification

-       Manta diving / snorkeling trips including identification in cooperation with the Manta Trust

-       Coral Planting and monitoring

-       Turtle monitoring / hatchling release

 

Your job:

-      Develop, implement and participate in the “Go Eco Programme”

-      Engaging in, contributing to and driving research and conservation programs that are relevant to Maldives, such as manta & turtle research or the national      coral reef monitoring program.

-      Run guest excursions, snorkeling/diving trips, and activities

-      Weekly evening presentations / awareness talks

-      Ensure that all injured/stressed marine and terrestrial organisms are looked after and that animal welfare issues are addressed.

-      Being prepared and always punctual for guest related marine activities.

-      Providing marine information according to your knowledge and not above

-      Help in the dive center if there is the need or you are not otherwise busy

 

You should have:

-      Academic qualifications in a relevant discipline (Marine Biology, Environmental Science)

-      Experience in marine conservation and research, experience in the Maldives a plus but not of utmost necessity

-      Knowledge of coral reefs and marine life.

-      Confident swimmer with SCUBA certification (minimum Dive Master desirable).

-      Good written/spoken English (extra languages desirable) and experience in public-facing roles.

Preferred starting date:                 August by the latest September 2017

Location:                                      North Male Atoll, Maldives

Contract period:                            1 year with the possibility to extend (or change the island) for the right candidate
