The Forest Stewardship Council U.S. National Office (FSC-US) seeks an accomplished professional to manage a diverse set of fundraising activities in this rapidly growing organization.

POSITION & RESPONSIBILTIES

The Development Manager will manage all activities related to grant writing and management, recruitment and tracking of donor opportunities, and oversight of FSC-US donations programs. They must be a master of their craft, operate effectively in rapidly changing conditions, and perform well as part of the national team of FSC-US staff.

This full-time staff position is based at the FSC-US National Office in Minneapolis, MN and reports to the Director of Business Development. The ideal candidate should be experienced in the development field, knowledgeable of forest conservation and/or certification systems, well-networked, ambitious and highly self-motivated, with a team-focused spirit and the passion to help build the capacity and reach of this quickly growing organization. Key responsibilities of the Development Manager include:

  • Research, identification and recruitment of new donor relationships.
  • Tracking and projection of funding opportunities to assist the financial management team.
  • Grant writing, management, and reporting for a full range of funding sources.
  • Design and build strategies aimed at increasing private donations, both small donors and high net worth individuals, for FSC-US.

An ideal candidate will have:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree and at least five years related experience in development.
  • Strong knowledge of fundraising standards, both performance and ethics.
  • Positive and broad relationships within fundraising associations, funding agencies, service and technology providers, high net worth individuals, and other key groups.
  • Successful experience in developing, directing and managing multiple projects and implementing strategic program goals, including the capacity to organize strategic meetings bringing together key partners.
  • Proven organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to organize time, manage diverse activities, and meet deadlines. Demonstrated flexibility to quickly changing situations and priorities.
  • Demonstrated experience in MS Office, CRM and other standard business software.
  • A customer service mindset, including the ability to be courteous, personable, and tactful when dealing with FSC’s full range of stakeholders.

Compensation for this position is commensurate with experience. FSC-US has a competitive benefits package and 403b plan.
