GRADE/SALARY: P1 (£35,000 - £38,000 per annum, contingent on skills and experience, plus a generous benefit package)

BACKGROUND
TRAFFIC, a UK-registered charity based in Cambridge, works to ensure that trade in wild animals and plants is not a threat to the conservation of nature, and is managed in a way that helps meet human needs. Our work ranges from investigating and supporting crackdowns on illegal trade in ivory, rhino horn and other endangered species products to supporting fair and sustainable trade in the herbal products sector.
The role involves working as part of a friendly team in TRAFFIC's Cambridge headquarters and with colleagues based in our international network of seven regional offices on five continents.
The position is available from 1 December 2014.
DUTIES
We are looking for an experienced, dynamic and inspiring individual who can strengthen marketing of our programme to prospective donors and grow the funding base underpinning our work. This newly created post provides a great opportunity for the right person to shape and spearhead delivery of an ambitious effort to successfully market TRAFFIC's work to foundations, trusts, corporate and individual donors.
REQUIREMENTS
The role holder needs to be articulate with persuasive and engaging verbal communication skills and excellent written communication skills in English. The ability to translate and package a complex programme portfolio into language and visuals suitable for conveying TRAFFIC's work to existing and potential supporters and have previous fundraising experience, ideally including fundraising strategy design and a track record of success with securing individual contributions of GBP50,000 (USD75,000) or more from foundations, trusts and individual donors.
