Ideal internship period:

 Mid-May through July

Minimum Commitment:

  3 months, 2-3 days per week

The Rainforest Alliance encourages a wide-range of interesting and challenging opportunities that will promote the growth of the Membership Intern.  Broadly, the Membership Team’s focus is to develop fundraising opportunities with individuals, primarily using online and mailing communications.  The intern would have the opportunity to develop office skills/etiquette/rapport and contribute to many creative and analytical processes.  Further, this internship will provide exposure to important development tools, such as Raiser’s Edge and Convio.

 

Responsibilities:

The internship will develop skills with research, databases and software, social media and communications.  An ideal candidate would demonstrate strong writing and research skills, proficiency with document development, familiarity or interest in analytical inquiry and a high level of enthusiasm for the objectives of the organization and team.

  • Research content for donor appeals and campaign content
  • Write reports on environmental, social, and economic issues
  • Monitor and build social network presences (Twitter, Facebook)
  • Assist development of team projects such as mobile fundraising and donor stewardship
  • Assist membership team’s daily operations
    • Batching
    • Data entry
    • Donor support (info requests, sending packages, etc.)
  • Compose and track acknowledgement letters

 

Qualifications:

Ideal for undergraduate student with strong academic background; students receiving academic credit for the internship is preferred.  We are seeking a self-starter who is resourceful, detail-oriented and possesses strong communication skills.  Sound research skills, understanding of social media, MS Office and the ability to interact professionally via the phone and e-mail required.  Minimum commitment of two days per week required.
