Technology R&D is anchored in a central position in Vestas Wind Systems A/S, where the stakeholders are management on all levels of the company, and where the participants are located across Technology R&D worldwide. Vestas Technology R&D is where new product ideas and technologies are matured, developed, tested and improved.

Loads, Aerodynamics and Control (LAC R&D) is overall responsible for the operational performance of the Vestas wind turbines. LAC R&D develops the airfoils of the blades, calculates the turbine loads and provides the turbine over all controls. LAC R&D has teams across multiple sites and our stakeholders are spread across Vestas Wind Systems A/S from Technology R&D to sales and production business units.
The Turbine Loads Department is a part of the Loads, Aerodynamics & Controls (LAC) Group in Vestas Technology R&D. The department is responsible for both simulation and optimization of the structural dynamics of the wind turbine taking into account the effects of external loading as well as the dynamic interaction of the main components of the wind turbine. The department delivers design loads to the component design teams and actively takes part in the integrated product development process, in technology projects as well as delivers support to the sales organisation.
Responsibilities:
 
Your primary responsibility is to develop new technologies with the aim of optimizing the loading of our existing and future wind turbines and to contribute to the development of the tools and methods used in the Turbine Loads Department. You will also work actively on knowledge sharing within the department and towards further integration and cooperation with our main stakeholders inside and outside the company.
Qualifications:
 
You have:
  • An M.Sc. or Ph.D. within structural, civil or mechanical engineering
  • Knowledge within dynamic simulations of structural or mechanical systems
  • Knowledge of design of structural components with respect to fatigue and extreme loads
  • 0-5 years relevant experience within wind energy engineering or similar field
  • Hands-on experience with product or technology development
You may have:
  • Programming experience preferably Delphi
  • Knowledge of control of mechanical systems
  • Experience in working with fluid dynamics
  • Experience with the tools Flex5, Bladed or HAWC2
