The Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) is the nation's leading private land conservation organization, working to protect our valuable natural areas and the flora and fauna they sustain. Since 1962, NCC and its partners have helped to protected more than 800,000 hectares coast to coast, including over 22,600 hectares in Quebec.

The Development coordinator assumes an important role in building and maintaining relationships with donors and prospective donors and coordinating the delivery of fundraising activities to further the mission of the Nature Conservancy of Canada (NCC) to maximize revenue for the Quebec Region. The Development Coordinator is also responsible for the timely and accurate processing of information to the Raisers Edge database.

The Development Coordinator reports to the Director, Major Gifts and is a member of the NCC Development department and the Quebec Region staff team. The successful candidate will be energetic, enthusiastic, flexible, organized and a highly motivated team player.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain relationships with current and prospect donors, as assigned by the Director, Major Gifts;
  • Assist in the preparation of briefing notes for donor/prospect meetings;
  • Support the Director, Major Gifts in managing donor recognition and cultivation events;
  • Prepare correspondence to donors and maintain follow-ups to ensure a high standard of donor stewardship;
  • Achieve the annual LIC fund raising targets set with the Director, Major Gifts;
  • Conduct research on appropriate fundraising channels for charitable giving in Quebec;
  • Undertake prospect research, with support from the NCC national office research department;
    Utilize the organization's Prospect Management System;
  • Create briefing notes as needed for NCC events;
  • Adapt proposals and other solicitation materials, as assigned by the Director, Major Gifts;
  • Participate in the planning and implementation of various fundraising events;
  • Cultivate effective relationships with the NCC national office, Quebec staff and volunteers;
    Utilize the organization's Raiser's Edge database;
  • Prepare reports for revenue, donor tracking and for the NCC national office, as required;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned by the Director, Major Gifts and the Regional Vice- President.

Qualifications

  • fluent in French and English;
  • minimum of 2 years fundraising experience in the non-profit sector;
  • highly proficient with word processing and spreadsheet software;
  • experience with Raiser's Edge;
  • self-motivated, with superior time management skills and ability to meet deadlines;
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills;
  • creativity and exceptional written skills for proposals, general correspondence and donor acknowledgements;
  • demonstrated ability to work within defined processes and procedures to ensure timely and accurate record-keeping;
  • multi-tasking and problem-solving abilities;
  • proven ability to work well with volunteers and within a team structure;
  • ability to manage highly confidential material;
  • ability to work within a flexible schedule, including occasional weekends and evenings.
