The Development Assistant - Gift & Data Processing (GDP) reports to the Gift and Data Processing Manager and is a key player on the Membership team, part of the Development Department at UCS.

Responsibilities

The Development Assistant - GDP is responsible for completing time and detail sensitive work related to processing and handling of all donations made to UCS. Specific duties include:

  • Daily batch entry of gifts entered in-house using The Raiser’s Edge fundraising software
  • Management of daily bulk imports of gift files from outside lockbox vendor and online gift software
  • Effective coordination with other Development teams to assure the accurate and timely processing of gifts from Major Donors and Foundations
  • Maintain excellent data hygiene practices with the Raiser’s Edge database, including updating donor contact information, merging and deceasing of donor records, running scheduled quality checks, participating in database cleanup projects as assigned
  • Process acknowledgement files and transmit to vendor for printing and mailing
  • Strictly and accurately enforce business rules associated with database coding practices.
  • Recognize and advocate for opportunities to improve process functionality over time
  • Act as back-up for running revenue reports for Development Department and UCS Management Team
  • Act as back-up for reconciliation functions with Finance & Administration department, and generate related reports
  • Attend weekly Development Department and Membership Team meetings
  • Manage a fluctuating workload while working independently
  • Handle, safeguard, respect and maintain confidential data

Qualifications and experience

  • Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously with high degree of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Ability to work independently for extended periods of time to accomplish daily responsibilities and projects.
  • Ability to work collaboratively and as a team player on occasional strategic goals and process enhancements.
  • A working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook is required.
  • Familiarity with complex relational databases, basic bookkeeping, and experience with The Raiser’s Edge donor management software is strongly preferred.
  • A sincere interest and enthusiasm for becoming a Raiser’s Edge power user is required.

A minimum of two years of experience in an office setting is required. Work requires one year of comparable and related experience in Data Processing.  Bachelor’s degree preferred.

Spends extended periods at computer monitor and keyboard, occasionally lifts and carries stock boxes or bulk mail.

At UCS, comparable training and/or experience can be substituted for degrees when appropriate.

Compensation, Hours and Location: This is a full-time position based in UCS’s Cambridge office. For candidates who meet all position requirements, the salary is $35, 000 per year.
