The Coral Reef Alliance (CORAL) is an environmental NGO that is on a mission to save the world’s coral reefs. Founded in 1994, CORAL has a history of working collaboratively with communities to reduce direct threats to reefs. In parallel, CORAL is actively expanding the scientific understanding of how corals adapt to climate change and is applying this information to give reefs around the world the best chance to thrive for generations to come.

The Development and Marketing Team comprises a Development Director, Associate Development Director, Associate Marketing Director, and Associate Development Manager. We are a nimble, highly organized and impactful team focused on raising individual, institutional, and corporate revenue for CORAL as well as driving awareness of CORAL’s mission and elevating the organization into a new realm of brand recognition.

Position Description

CORAL is seeking a dynamic Development and Marketing Coordinator to join our team. This position will have split duties between development and marketing, and will report directly to the Development Director and work in close partnership with the Associate Development Director, Associate Marketing Director, and Associate Development Manager.

The Development and Marketing Coordinator will support CORAL fundraising initiatives and be exposed to a wide variety of duties related to individual donors, corporate partnerships, foundation grants, and more. Additionally, the Development and Marketing Coordinator will support marketing and communications initiatives by supporting digital and print marketing projects, including visual collateral, social media, website, and newsletter content. The Development and Marketing Coordinator will collaborate closely with international program teams to assist with their local marketing efforts and help communicate stories from-the-field with the broader CORAL community

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Lead constituent management and revenue tracking: use Salesforce to track gifts received, information, contributions, activities, and tasks for individual, corporate, and institution donors
  • Support online/mail membership and fundraising appeals through Salesforce and Pardot
  • Manage CORAL’s donor acknowledgement process, including mailings
  • Conduct donor research to identify new funding and partnership opportunities
  • Carry out cultivation activities with a portfolio of donors
  • Assist in travel planning and logistics for virtual and in-person events, donor engagement
  • Process incoming and outgoing mail
  • Work closely with the Associate Marketing Director to assist in the implementation of a comprehensive and proactive communications strategy that builds support for CORAL; implement plan across core channels
  • Support Marketing efforts to advance CORAL’s brand across targeted marketing channels
  • Support the writing, editing, and production of communication materials and collateral including, newsletters (print and digital), annual reports, annual calendar, press releases, flyers, fundraising appeals, brochures and more. Work effectively with external vendors, partners and contractors.
  • Write, edit, and monitor social media content, which includes promotions and messaging that will increase engagement and brand visibility
  • Assist with updating and maintaining the CORAL website
  • Work with CORAL’s international field teams to support programmatic communication needs, including copy editing newsletters, producing promotional flyers using pre-existing templates
  • Support content creation for CORAL’s campaigns and storytelling needs as required, including writing and editing content across all marketing platforms

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in communications, marketing, PR, journalism, or equivalent experience
  • 2-3 years of related work experience (Development or Marketing preferred) in an office or virtual office environment
  • Strong attention to detail and exceptional project management skills
  • Prior experience balancing managing multiple projects and tight deadlines
  • Self-motivation, the ability to take initiative and follow through on tasks independently
  • Excellent writing and editing skills, and an critical eye for detail
  • Strong problem-solving, research, and analytical skills
  • Experience managing a Customer Relationship Management database such as Salesforce
  • Technical proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite, Microsoft Office, Google Suite, Canva, Hootsuite, and Asana
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and other digital tools and an interest in using these tools to drive action and engagement
  • Discretion with confidential information

Preferred Qualifications

  • Nonprofit Development/fundraising experience
  • Design experience and/or working with designers – print and digital
  • Familiarity with various marketing analytics tools, including Google Analytics, Hootsuite, and survey analysis
  • Knowledge of graphics (photo/video) software for print and web publication
  • Basic proficiency with HTML
  • A good sense of humor, strong interpersonal skills, and a team-player mentality
  • Spanish language skills (conversational and written) a plus
  • Commitment to the mission of CORAL
