Description
The Commercial Projects Engineering Manager is responsible for all engineering activity related to completion and execution of projects within a specific market segment, (Commercial, Government, or Utility scale projects). The Commercial Projects Engineering Manager manages employees, creates and monitors metrics, contributes to department policy decisions, ensures their team completes designs for solar photovoltaic systems. The Manager follows engineering department policy, guides other team members in the creation of project designs, and coordinates scopes of work and engineeering subcontracts. The Engineering Manager is instrumental in shaping the policies and procedures for the department, and works to continuously improve the department and company deliverables. The Engineering Manager functions as a technical expert and resource for the market segment in which they manage the engineering department and coordinates closely with Sales, Project Management, and other departments to ensure successful project completion.    
 
Responsibilities:
·         Ensure the engineering team performs tasks to support projects: system design, creation of construction documents, interconnection support and utility coordination, creation of bills of material, task management, site surveys, site layout and design, and others as tasks arise;
·         Delegate project completion tasks to other engineering team members;
·         Coordinate and direct engineering scope on projects, making detailed plans to accomplish goals and directing the integration of technical activities;
·         Work closely with project management, construction, materials planning, sales, and other departments to ensure timely and successful completion of engineering deliverables to support project completion;
·         Support interconnection process and coordinate project details with utilities;
·         Develop standards and goals for engineering department personnel;
·         Direct, review and approve project designs;
·         Review and recommend or approve cost estimates;
·         Recruit and hire new employees as necessary to support project workload requirements;
·         Mentor, coach, and manage engineering department employees;
·         Provide consistent, relevant, and timely training for  team to ensure they grow and maintaint the correct skill sets;
·         Conduct appropriate staff meetings;
·         Create and provide reports to management on status of their scope of responsibility;
·         Work with senior management to develop forecasts for future engineering needs;
·         Work with team members to develop their individual skills;
·         Perform performance reviews for managed staff;
·         Document and develop industry best practices, standards and guidelines.
 
Requirements:
                                 
•      Bachelors degree in an engineering field;
•      Project or Engineering Management Experience;
•      3+ years in solar electric design or engineering;
•      6+ years professional experience with a minimum of 2 years management experience;
•      Professional Engineering License a plus;
•      Proficiency in drafting and AutoCAD Software;
•      Proficiency in Microsoft Excel;
•      High attention to detail;
•      Willingness to travel as required (up to 30% of the time);
•      Knowledge of construction techniques required;
•      Knowledge of 3 phase electric systems and commercial construction required;
•      Effective written and oral communications skills;
•      Think critically and able to solve problems;
•      Good judgment and analytical skills;
•      Exceptional customer service skills;
•      Knowledge of the National Electric Code, International Building code, and other applicable codes;
•      Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects and employees in a fast-paced environment;
•      Ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical individuals.
