The Student Conservation Association (SCA), America's #1 conservation service organization seeks qualified applicants to lead, educate, and inspire young adults for our Desert Restoration Corps (DRC). The DRC is a partnership between SCA, the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), and the California Off-Highway Vehicle Commission (CAOHV) which has produced over a decade of monitoring, preserving, and repairing fragile habitat in the Mojave Desert of Southern California. This season the DRC will be composed of 2, 10-member teams in Ridgecrest, CA. Each team will be supervised by 1 Project Leader. The teams will complete habitat restoration projects aimed at mitigating the impacts of Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) use on public lands. These projects are primarily vertical mulch restoration and fence/hard barrier construction. Additional project responsibilities may include, are not limited to: public outreach, route monitoring, route signage, kiosk installation, fence removal, and other conservation projects as needed.
