Based at Bioversity’s headquarters in Maccarese, near Rome, Italy, the successful incumbent will be both an inspiring scientific leader and excellent research manager. Reporting to the Director General, the Deputy Director-General (Research) will have responsibility to lead the process of setting the strategic direction and priorities of Bioversity’s research and for managing the overall research portfolio, ensuring that it is geared towards the delivery of outcomes and impact. He or she will be responsible for ensuring the seamless and synergistic implementation of the organization’s research, thus ensuring the delivery on expected results. The incumbent will provide overall leadership in the development of the strategic research orientation of the organization ensuring a strong and coherent research programme on agricultural biodiversity and the use and conservation of genetic resources.
