DUTIES: The Database Specialist will be responsible for creating and maintaining a database that supports the Cary Institute's development and communications efforts. This will include inputting gifts and new contacts in a timely manner; tracking prospects; generating gift reports and customized financial queries; outputting lists; implementing new database features; and maintaining the integrity of the database by updating records and running quality control reports. Will also coordinate development and communications mailings and e-mail campaigns, such as gift acknowledgement letters, membership renewals, quarterly newsletters, and an annual appeal. BACKGROUND: The successful candidate will have 3-5 years experience managing a donor/contact database (preferably Raiser's Edge) in a not-for-profit environment. Strong report generation skills are essential, as is knowledge of fundraising principles, proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Access), and an ability to conduct internet research. Applicants must also have excellent organizational skills, a professional demeanor, an eye for detail, and the ability to multi-task and work collaboratively as part of a team.
