Description

JNCC is pleased to announce an exciting opportunity to help deliver important improvements across the organisation.

The General Data Protection Regulation comes into force in May 2018; and JNCC is recruiting someone to help us prepare. This work will include:

  • Working with members of all teams across JNCC in Peterborough and Aberdeen offices to identify how and why we collect personal data;
  • Reviewing our data holdings, and working with staff to make changes to activities where needed;
  • Updating our Data Protection policy, and reviewing our wider information management policies, to set out how we will manage our data assets and comply with the GDPR;
  • Communicating the changes to internal staff (through various mechanisms);
  • Creating guidance for staff and supporting them to understand how the changes relate to their day-to-day; and
  • Joining up with external partners working to comply with GDPR, to share learning and materials.

This is an opportunity for someone with a technical or data/information management background, an enthusiasm for communication and people, and an interest in corporate governance. The post will facilitate the development of key skills by working as part of a growing and dynamic team to deliver change across an organisation. JNCC is the advisor to government on UK conservation and has a vision “To be a world-leading provider of innovative solutions, placing nature at the heart of sustainable wealth and wellbeing.” We have two main offices, one in Peterborough, another in Aberdeen, and a small proportion of staff working in other government buildings or remotely from home. This project will need to ensure all members of staff are engaged with the changes, so that we may manage our data assets in a responsible and effective manner.

This post will be based in JNCC Office Peterborough, and will terminate shortly after the GDPR comes into force, on 30 June 2018.

For more information about the skills/competencies required for this post, visit our website www.jncc.defra.gov.uk/jobs where you can download the details and the relevant application form and find out more about our work. Alternatively, contact us via recruitment@jncc.gov.uk and we will email the relevant documentation to you.

The closing date is 09:00 Wednesday 19th July 2017; interviews are expected to take place on Thursday 3 August 2017.
