Description

Six highly motivated and dedicated individuals are needed to capture existing plant collection data into a database and, where necessary, georeference the locality information.

The successful candidates must be in possession of a Senior Certificate (Grade 12), be meticulous, have a flair for accuracy, and demonstrate excellent typing skills and proficiency in the MS Office Suite. At least 2 – 5 years’ relevant experience is essential, while Geographical Information Systems (GIS) software knowledge would be advantageous. Excellent interpersonal relations, as well as good command of spoken and written English, are prerequisites. Time management skills and the ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines are of the utmost importance.

Key performance areas include:
• capturing plant specimen data into an existing database • georeferencing locality data to the most accurate degree of confidence • generating barcode labels for material databased • performing quality control of data • accurately extracting and re-filing specimens • do accurately physical curation of collections • compiling accurate monthly performance reports.

SANBI offers an all-inclusive annual salary of R129 226,92. Please note the one-year contracts might be renewed for another year, based on performance and available funding.
