Description

The Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh (RBGE) is looking for a Sample Co-ordinator as part of the Darwin Tree of Life project to join our Science team on a 21 month fixed term contract. Due to project delivery being time critical, the successful applicant must be available to start work immediately.

This role has a particular focus on sampling bryophytes and vascular plants. You will check identification of samples, make voucher specimens, maintain data records, sort and process samples as well as work with the RBGE lab team on DNA barcoding. You will also produce regular project progress reports.

Applicants should be qualified to PhD level or equivalent, have strong bryophyte identification skills, excellent knowledge of British flora and experience of biodiversity genetics/genomic analysis of plants. Project management, team working and sample/data management experience are essential as is being familiar with plant collecting and fieldwork.
