Dallas Water Conservation Coordinator

Clean Water Action and Clean Water Fund seek a PART-TIME OUTREACH COORDINATOR who will organize programs to educate and mobilize Dallas area residents about water conservation issues.  Clean Water Action is a national citizens' organization working for clean, safe and affordable water, prevention of health-threatening pollution, creation of environmentally-safe jobs and businesses, and empowerment of people to make democracy work. Clean Water Action has nearly 1 million members nationally and 50,000 in Texas. Clean Water Fund provides research, education, organizing, and technical assistance, promoting the public interest on issues related to water, natural resources, health, and a healthy economy.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Help arrange for, schedule and conduct presentations on water conservation to community groups, including neighborhood and homeowner associations, in targeted parts of the Dallas metro area.
  • Help research and develop materials to educate the public and policy makers on water conservation and its benefits, including PowerPoint presentations, brochures/fact sheets.
  • Assist in media outreach and public relations for the water conservation project.
  • Help in meetings with elected officials, water utility personnel and state agencies on water conservation.
  • Potentially help organize door-to-door outreach efforts in targeted communities to educate residents about water conservation; help recruit, train, and assign outreach specialists; help prepare materials; coordinate with authorities as needed.
  • Conduct other tasks as assigned.
Qualifications: 
  • Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Versatile, quick learner; highly productive, hardworking, and reliable work style; self motivated; able to handle multiple responsibilities, meet deadlines and get results.
  • Strong teamwork skills and ability to work with diverse people and community groups.
  • Knowledge of environmental issues and water conservation a plus.
  • Experience organizing community outreach efforts. Prior field canvass leadership experience recommended but not required.
  • Flexibility to adjust to project needs, work weekday evenings and weekends as needed.
