Job Purpose

The Data Analysis & Control Center (DACC) monitors wind farms on a 24x7x365 basis and is the first to respond to events as well as be the source for data requests company-wide.  The primary responsibilities for the DACC include; monitoring wind turbine and substation status, coordinate response and repair activities between various parties, correctly track and diagnose downtime events, ensure fleet performance adheres to company performance goals, and perform data analysis and report generation. 

Principal Responsibilities

The DACC Manager will have three primary focuses:

 

Operational Excellence – The DACC Manager will be responsible for: maintaining First Wind’s operational excellence, managing DACC personnel and their 24/7/365 shift schedules, ensuring regulatory and safety compliance, and ensuring that policies and procedures are documented, communicated, trained, and executed. The DACC Manager will use performance metrics to measure daily DACC performance based upon incident response, correctness of actions taken, zero safety violation enforcement, and zero non-compliance regulatory incidents.  The DACC Manager will be responsible for all personnel management activities including staffing, goal setting and performance management.

 

Coordination & Communication – The DACC Manager will be the point of contact for utility control centers to ensure effective communication and coordination efforts exist between the DACC and other control centers.  The DACC Manager will ensure that the DACC is the constant hub for operational communications company-wide and coordinate efforts where needed to maintain Operational Excellence and regulatory and safety compliance.

 

Data Analysis – The DACC Manager will coordinate: all data analysis requests and scheduled reporting requirements as defined by Asset Management and Operations, data analysis of turbine and substation operational data to help proactively identify areas of underperformance or components showing warnings of early failure, the maintenance an operational intelligence dashboard for use by the DACC and other departments.

 

Qualifications

  • 3-5+ years of increasing responsibility to include managerial experience at a 24 hour Operations Center, preferably in the energy industry. 

 

  • 5+ years of experience in the Power and Utilities industry.

 

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred, with major in Electrical Engineering or similar.   A combination of experience and education will be considered in lieu of a 4 year degree. 

 

  • Strong managerial, communication (oral and written), and organizational skills.

 

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends and holidays.
