The Current River Project Manager implements and manages The Nature Conservancy’s Current River Project to achieve sustainable, watershed-scale conservation goals. Project is focused on sustainable forest management, particularly securing binding sustainable management on critical private lands, as well as abating impacts from habitat degradation, sedimentation, and in-stream habitat degradation. The Project Manager will focus on sustainable conservation of priority riparian, aquatic, and terrestrial targets as identified in the Ecoregional and Project planning by developing and securing implementation of conservation practices with a broad array of private and public partners and stakeholders. The Project Manager will also assist with development and implementation of multi-site and multi-project strategies to conserve biodiversity across the Ozarks Ecoregion, with emphasis on sustainable forestry and watershed conservation. The scope of project activities includes sustainable forestry initiatives and close collaboration with key forestry stakeholders, conservation real estate and conservation easement projects, habitat restoration, demonstration projects, and private lands conservation outreach. Project success requires building on existing achievements with key landowners and stakeholders in the watershed, including the National Park Service, Missouri Department of Conservation, U.S. Forest Service, LAD Foundation/Pioneer Forest, forest products industry and other key organizations and leaders. The Current River Project Director is part of an interdisciplinary team, and works with staff and partners at multiple levels to implement priority actions on critical lands and waters. This position works independently and cooperatively with groups of diverse stakeholders and partners, including private landowners, government agencies, producer groups, and conservation organizations. The Project Director is supervised by the Missouri Director of Freshwater Conservation and may supervise long term staff, seasonal employees, and volunteers. |
