Primary Purpose of the Position:  Center for State of the Parks was launched by NPCA to provide an objective and credible assessment of the condition of natural and cultural resources in the National Park System and recommend actions needed to improve resource protection. This position will manage the cultural resource assessment process in individual park units for the State of the Park’s program as well as manage the review of data and technical reports for select synthesis projects focusing on system-wide cultural resource issues.  Areas to be investigated and communicated on in park assessments are: history, historic structures, museum and archival collections, ethnography, archaeology, and cultural landscapes. The Cultural Resources Manager is responsible for the management of Center for State of the Park’s cultural resources program.

 

This position also will be expected to work and interact effectively with NPCA staff, the National Park Service, cultural resource professionals, university and national conservation partners, and regional park and scientific organizations. The candidate must possess the ability to balance high quality and accelerated productivity with day-to-day tasks associated with project management and other duties. This position will also supervise CSOTP cultural resource program staff.
