Cultural Resource Specialist

Cultural Resource Specialist: Ecology and Environment, Inc. is a fully-integrated environmental consulting firm committed to supporting sustainable development through responsible environmental stewardship.  We are seeking a Cultural Resource Specialist for our Headquarters in Lancaster, New York. 

This position will be responsible for providing Section 106 consultation and compliance support to a variety of public and private clients.  Our successful candidate must have a good understanding of the Section 106 and NEPA compliance processes, and a cultural resources management background.  

Responsibilities:

  • Providing Section 106 and general NHPA compliance support for a wide range of private and public clients, including consultation documentation, MOAs and PAs
  • Providing support for preparation of the cultural resources components of environmental permits, documents and reports including writing, drafting, editing and revising
  • Assisting with archaeological and architectural aspects of environmental impact analysis, feasibility and due diligence studies
  • Applying knowledge of cultural resource management principles obtained through field studies including research, data collection, compilation and evaluation
  • Technical support for the Section 106 consultation and NEPA compliance processes to address cultural resources and historic properties issues
  • Providing oversight services to clients for cultural resources subcontractors
  • Position will not involve performing cultural resources investigations

Requirements:

  • Master’s Degree in Anthropology, Archeology, Historic Architecture, or related discipline
  • 15+ years of experience including cultural resources management experience
  • Relevant experience coordinating the Section 106 process with the NEPA compliance process
  • Experience in environmental consulting, experience in the Eastern United States, and experience with tribal consultation preferred
  • Excellent verbal communication and technical writing and research skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Ability to travel to support business needs
