Description

We are looking for dynamic and focused individual to join us as a Countryside & Coast Officer to provide a grave digging and grounds maintenance service within the Cemeteries of the District, working to an excellent standard.

About this role

As a Countryside & Coast Officer, you will be expected to:

  • Act as Lead Officer for specified areas of work, including:
    • Grave digging
    • Interment of cremated remains
    • Monument testing
    • Grounds maintenance within Cemetery and closed Churchyard sites
  • Operate basic machinery and vehicle driving

We are particularly seeking applicants who have experience of working within a Cemetery service environment. Operation of Digging machinery and grave digging experience is desirable, however training will be offered to the successful applicant.

  • Work in partnership with others to achieve high standards of grounds maintenance
  • Organise own working methods within guidelines to ensure safe working and adherence with health and safety procedures and instruction
  • To provide supervision, direction and guidance to both staff and volunteers in the delivery of services within the grounds maintenance functions of the Cemetery and Closed Churchyard sites.
  • Undertake occasional early morning/late evening, weekend and bank holiday duties and to provide out of hours cover for events and civil emergencies

In order to carry out this role, you will need to hold a full driving licence and qualifications/experience as listed within the Job Description.
