For our WWF Papua New Guinea Country Office, we are looking for a qualified:

Country Manager, Papua New Guinea (PNG)

 

We are looking for a dynamic and strategic thinker who will be responsible for effective management of our Papua New Guinea Country Office.  As Country Manager, you will lead the implementation of the change management process and the development of a strategic plan for WWF PNG. Experience working in the Pacific region (preferably PNG) and in conservation is an advantage.

Location/Contract Details:

WWF office in Madang,Papua New Guinea

Main responsibilities:

  • Lead the implementation of a recently adopted  framework to deliver a more efficient, effective, and better resourced PNG programme that delivers WWF’s key priorities in Western Pacific in FY14 and triples programme funding within two years;
  • Ensures that the WWF PNG Country Office is managed effectively and efficiently in all key programme areas – Programme, Finance and Administration, People & Development, Partnership Development, and Communications;
  • Based on a new strategic framework for WWF’s work in the Pacific, develops a strategic plan for WWF PNG and ensure effective implementation

What you need:

Required Qualifications, Skills and Competencies

 

  • Advanced university degree in Business Management, International Relations / Development, or other related fields.  Additional academic training or a degree in an environmental / conservation field would be a strong asset;
  • Proven track record in successfully developing, leading, and managing programmes and/or institutions in the field of conservation, natural resource management, international development, and/or other related fields;
  • At least 10 years professional experience in a leadership role, 3-5 years of which should be in the Pacific region (preferably PNG), with demonstrated success in managing multi-disciplinary teams; and
  • Knowledge of the institutional and legal framework in PNG, as well as of relevant political, policy and cultural issues.
  • Proven leadership skills;
  • Demonstrated experience in developing, implementing, and evaluating strategic plans;
  • Demonstrated experience leading change;
  • Excellent capacities in managing human and financial resources;
  • Demonstrated fundraising skills, and experience working with donors;
  • Negotiation, influencing, and media relation skills, preferably at a high level;
  • Proven knowledge and experience of the not-for-profit sector, preferably of environmental non-government organisations;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop and maintain strong relationships at all levels, both internally and with local communities, government agencies, the not-for-profit sector, the scientific community, the business community, and the WWF Network;
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills in English;
  • Willingness to adhere to WWF’s values: Knowledgeable, Optimistic, Determined and Engaging.
