The duration of this contract is for 24 months, with the possibility of extension thereafter.

 

Based in Antananarivo, with extended periods in the field.

 

The Wildfowl & Wetlands Trust is seeking to appoint a Country Manager to oversee the successful delivery of WWT’s wetland conservation programme in Madagascar. The role will ensure sustainable wetland management is promoted throughout the country, with WWT providing best-practice projects that influence wetland protection and wise-use within government, business and civil society.

The Country Manager will oversee the operational and administrative delivery of WWT’s Madagascar Programme. A key focus of the role will be to advance national wetland guidance, supporting stakeholders from across different sectors to consider the importance of wetlands for biodiversity and local people, and integrate sustainable wetland management in their areas of work.

We are looking for an experienced manager with a demonstrable passion and dedication towards the protection of natural resources. The candidate will have an excellent knowledge of wetland conservation, an established network of influential stakeholders, and have the ability to represent WWT at the highest level. You will have a proven track record delivering complex multi-stakeholder projects, have experience in operational and financial administration and speak fluently in French and English. The ability to organise and facilitate national workshops and conferences is essential.

This is a full-time role, requiring a minimum of 37 ½ hours per week. Hours may vary depending on job requirements in the field.
