Our client, FOUR PAWS, is an international animal welfare organisation with headquarters in Vienna, Austria, and has offices in more than 10 other countries. Founded in 1988, the organisation pleads for animal welfare through sustainable campaigns and projects. FOUR PAWS focuses on animals that are directly under human influence, for example stray dogs and stray cats, laboratory animals, farm animals, wild animals and companion animals kept in inappropriate housing.FOUR PAWS aims to help animals in need directly and quickly.

COUNTRY MANAGER BULGARIA (m/f)

Location: Sofia, Fulltime

The Country Manager leads the local office. The position is responsible for the effective translation of international project and campaign relevant priorities into national realities. The Country Manager is the national representative of FOUR PAWS and is responsible for constructive and trustful cooperation between local and international animal welfare responsible persons.


Main tasks:

  • Implementation of national animal welfare related development plans in order to secure effective translation of international priorities into national realities
  • Annual National Plan: ambitious and realistic implementation of international annual program including national animal welfare supporting specifications and proper resource planning
  • Feedback from national unit to global organization
  • Financial performance: oversee financial performance of the office, submit regular financial reports to International Director of Finance & Administration
  • Increase the local perception of FOUR PAWS as animal welfare organization and represent the organization in the country
  • Manage the country team in cooperation with the responsible international directors and motivate and care for dedicated staff according to the International Human Resources Strategy
  • Ensure agile and resilient culture along FOUR PAWS values
  • Strengthen innovation capacity
  • Responsible for special fundraising fields of major giving/legacy/corporate fundraising in accordance to Director of Fundraising and international fundraising strategies
  • Activation performance: ensure mobilization of people in the country for FOUR PAWS animal welfare related campaigns and programs

Requirements:

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in the field of managing a local office of an international organization including financial responsibility, preferably in a non-profit organization
  • Proven strategic planning, team leadership and reporting skills, references appreciated
  • Excellent communication skills in Bulgarian and English (written and oral)
  • Very good knowledge of the local market, especially in the field of NGOs
  • Great affinity to animal welfare and FOUR PAWS values and issues
  • Extra-ordinary high social competence and effective people management
  • Dedication to manage a local office with passion to inspire the local team
  • Exceptional solution and goal orientation, highly motivated and stress-resistant, open-minded and initiative, reliable and balanced-driven, confident appearance, transparent and open personality
  • Willingness and ability to travel abroad
