Position: Country Health Director                    Base Location: DRC, Congo            Salary: £38,050-£38,800

Main purpose of the role

Reporting to the Country Director as a member of the Country Management Team, the CHD is responsible for the overall development and delivery of the health component of Merlin’s programme in DRC.  This involves ensuring that current projects are delivered within remit and to a high quality, the development of future programmes and the development of a country health strategy. 

Overall Objectives (scope)

The Country Health Director will be assigned specific objectives to achieve within his/her general responsibilities. A specific attention will be paid to:

  • Extending/enhancing Merlin’s influence within the DRC Health Cluster at all levels,
  • Strengthening the quality of Merlin DRC projects, their technical coordination and follow-up,
  • Ensuring expansion of Merlin DRC programmes.

 

Responsibilities

                Staff health

                Representation

And any other assignment as required by CD, DCD.

Qualifications, experience and competences

 

As CHD you will be a qualified medical doctor with Master in Public Health (or equivalent degree), you will have substantial post qualification experience in managing public health services within developing countries and also strong communication skills, with excellent written and spoken English & working knowledge of written and spoken French.
