Description

We are seeking a dynamic and experienced person to lead our work in Democratic Republic of Congo from our country office in Kinshasa.

In order to achieve our goal of ensuring that the Congo Basin’s contiguous rainforest areas are protected and that local communities and indigenous people rights are promoted, Rainforest Foundation Norway (RFN) has established an ambitious strategy for its work in Democratic Republic of Congo.

We are now seeking a dynamic and experienced person to lead this work from our country office in Kinshasa. The country office consists of 9 dedicated and motivated employees. The position is based in Kinshasa, which is a non-family duty station for RFN. We will provide you with a housing allowance as well as comprehensive insurance for you.

This is a two-year contract with start-up summer 2021.

Job description:

Strategic People Management – responsible for the operational management of RFN’s office in DRC, including human resource, finance, security and other administration function.

Program Development & Representation – strategic leadership with focus on strategic collaboration with partners and developing our programs.

Fundraising & Advocacy – develop relations, engage and network with relevant donors in the region. Build and maintain relationships with donors, partners, government authorities and other stakeholders.

Support Services (HR & Finance) – support and take the lead in initiatives related to performance management and staff development. Financial management and expenses control including compliance with RFN’s requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Demonstrated strategic leadership experience in the context of development aid
  • Overall experience in managing and working with administration, financial management and HR in a demanding environment
  • Strong experience in project management, preferably from a NGO perspective 
  • Contextual knowledge of DRC/the region is an advantage
  • Relevant higher university degree
  • Excellent written and verbal skills in French and English, understanding Norwegian language is an asset.

  • Excellent communication skills and good at decision-making. Able to communicate and involve with different cultures and environments

  • Open-minded, curious and dedicated. Abel to handle stress and high workloads.
