The Corporate Relations Manager is an integral member of the AWF’s internationally (US, Europe, and Africa) based Corporate Relations team - playing a key role in identifying, cultivating, and managing relationships with various sectors of the global corporate community with a goal of raising funds and enhancing AWF’s visibility in support of our mission to conserve Africa’s wildlife and wild lands. Working directly with AWF’s Foundation and Corporate Relations Director, this position’s primary responsibility is to facilitate an annual strategic corporate fundraising plan and coordinate and monitor the activities of the Corporate Relations Team (CR Team) in a timely, efficient and successful manner. This position will be based in Washington DC.

Responsibilities

  • Become a key player in identifying new prospects and crafting thoughtful strategies to cultivate successful and diverse corporate relationships.
  • Manage the CR Team’s calendar of communications including assisting with the submission of introductory mailings, concept notes, and formal proposals to corporate prospects.
  • Coordinate, update and report on the CR Team’s Moves Management to ensure consistent treatment of prospects, from cultivation to solicitation to relationship management.
  • Request meetings with companies and agencies, and maintain a calendar of confirmed meetings.
  • Maintain a schedule of industry shows, business forums and other corporate events to be considered for networking purposes.
  • Collaborate with AWF’s Research Officer to review on a regular basis a pre-determined range of online and print publications, databases and other information sources for potential prospects.
  • Develop a list of target industries and business sectors, in consultation with the CR Team, that will be the basis for further examination by the Research Officer.
  • Prepare and regularly update a working list of prospects for presentation to the CR Team.
  • Assist with development of content that details opportunities for businesses to support AWF via cause-marketing partnerships, project specific support, in-kind contributions, and other arrangements aligning with AWF’s corporate strategy.
  • Manage a specific portfolio of companies for cultivation, solicitation and donor management.
  • Respond to corporate partner information requests, and provide business partners with regular updates on AWF’s conservation activities.
  • Maintain the AWF promotional calendar for each corporate partner, in collaboration with AWF’s marketing communications team.
  • Interact with program and Africa staff as needed to obtain information on AWF programs for the purposes of developing partnership proposals and preparing reports to business donors.
  • Develop agreements and monitor same to ensure adherence by the partner and AWF.
  • Share all corporate agreements and associated revenue projections with the Finance and Administration team for accounting and auditing purposes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree with at least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Demonstrated understanding of the corporate social responsibility and cause-marketing world and related fundraising practices.
  • Experience as a point of contact with related relationship management skills.
  • Superior written and verbal communications skills.
  • Ability to develop and convey program concepts in a compelling manner.
  • Positive, professional attitude that lends itself to working in a team setting.
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced collaborative environment while prioritizing and managing multiple deadlines.
  • Experience working with Blackbaud Direct Marketing and/or Raiser’s Edge preferred.
  • Willingness to travel on occasion for donor meetings, prospecting events.
  • Candidates with current or previous experience in NGO corporate relations required.
  • Keen interest or experience in Africa’s wildlife, land and people preferred, but not required.
