Head of Communications and Campaigns

Are you an expert communicator and campaigner who wants to drive a step-change in media coverage and stakeholder support for working animals across the world?

Do you want to play a critical role in the development and delivery of our strategy to transform working animal welfare?

As part of our charity’s ambitious strategic development plans, SPANA – The Society for the Protection of Animals Abroad is recruiting a Head of Communications and Campaigns. In this role, you will pro-actively develop and drive work to generate PR coverage and awareness for SPANA, and ensure working animals are represented in the global news agenda. You will also represent our global influencing and advocacy agenda externally, and you will manage the development of SPANA content and stakeholder communications. Head of Philanthropy and Fundraising Partnerships

Are you a talented and innovative fundraiser who can drive the growth of our work to generate income from high-value donors, corporate partnerships, charitable trusts and foundations, and gifts in Wills?

Do you want to play a critical role in the development and diversification of our global income streams?

As part of our charity’s ambitious strategic development plans, SPANA – The Society for the Protection of Animals Abroad is recruiting a Head of Philanthropy and Fundraising Partnerships. In this role, you will pro-actively lead the development of our Philanthropy and Fundraising Partnerships team as it seeks to acquire new charity partnerships and high-value donors, and build on our existing funding base. You will be comfortable with using a wide range of fundraising and marketing channels to acquire new funders, as well as steward existing supporters.

Director of Global Programmes

SPANA – The Society for the Protection of Animals Abroad is the global charity for working animals in low-income countries. Since 1923, we have supported the welfare of working animals, including donkeys, horses, camels and elephants, in communities that depend on working animals for water, transport, agriculture and their very survival. Today, we support working animals across approximately 20 countries, through a series of global projects and partnerships.

We are currently seeking a Director of Global Programmes who will lead on the strategic development, technical quality and delivery of SPANA’s global work to pursue the maximum, sustainable impact for working animals ensuring we achieve a lasting transformation in their welfare. Your role will involve ensuring SPANA integrates scientific and technical expertise and policy advice within a One Health framework. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will work with your colleagues to lead the organisation in line with our strategy and our agreed values and behaviours.

Head of Animal Health & Welfare

Your work will be supported by a nascent external animal health and welfare advisory panel, as well as that of your direct reports. You will be responsible for representing the organisation in relevant fora, amongst other responsibilities as required.. Fundraising Relationships Officer

As part of our charity’s ambitious strategic development plans, SPANA – The Society for the Protection of Animals Abroad is recruiting a Trusts Fundraising Manager. In this role, you will support the Fundraising Relationships and Business Development team in driving the development and delivery of SPANA’s high-value donor and corporate fundraising programme. The post holder will be responsible for project-managing mailings, conducting high quality research, organizing events and providing administrative support to the team. This role will also have an overview of our portfolio of our high-value donors and corporate partners, ensuring excellent stewardship and the smooth running of the programme.

Technical Advisor: SBCC for education - Maternity Cover

SPANA – The Society for the Protection of Animals Abroad is the global charity for working animals in low-income countries. Today, we support working animals across 26 countries, through a series of global projects and partnerships.

We are currently seeking an Education Programme Advisor to join us for a 12-month maternity cover, taking on a role that entails overseeing various components of our Education Programme. Our Education Programme aims to support anyone involved with working animals in areas of high need – whether that’s a child who look after their family’s donkey, a young person who uses a horse for their work, or a vet who looks after the community’s camels. Our diverse, responsive, and targeted education and behaviour change activities develop each person’s essential knowledge, attitudes, and skills required to support an improved quality of life for their animals.
