Duties and Responsibilities

Since its inception 5 years ago, Nexus has had great success in generating carbon credits from our members’ high quality projects to organizations looking to offset their carbon footprint. Nexus is moving into a growth period expanding the services from providing access to finance to its over 20 members through the carbon markets to new mechanisms such as crowdfunding and a working capital fund. While carbon markets remain the main vehicle to value the climate change mitigation impacts of the projects we support, corporate engagement and impact investing will be key levers to monetize the multiple co-benefits of these projects.

The Partnerships and Communication Director will have two main key objectives:

  • Develop and implement Nexus Corporate Partnerships strategy, including carbon sales;
  • Oversee the development and implementation of the Communication strategy

She/he will be key in continuing to develop, manage, and maximize the potential of current and new partnerships and ensuring high quality and effective communication to our stakeholders. She/he will also be responsible to develop Nexus sales and advocacy efforts in Asia.

This role is best suited for an individual who is passionate about climate friendly development, has strong commercial acumen, understands the current trends in Corporate Social Responsibility and carbon market, and has an established network of engaged corporates, preferably in Asia.

The Partnerships and Communication Director will report directly to the Executive Director and will manage a team of 3 to 4 people. Her/his responsibilities include:

1.     Develop and implement Nexus Corporate Partnerships strategy 

1.1   Manage and secure carbon finance deals

a)      Generate new leads, especially in Asia, and maintain current partnerships with private sector companies

b)      Supports the development and implementation of successful business strategies for the carbon offset sales

c)      Source, negotiate, contract and close carbon financing deals with corporates and carbon offset retailers

d)      Ensure client satisfaction that after-sales deliverables are met 

1.2   Strategy and sustainability of the Partnerships and Communication team

a)      Contribute to the overall strategic direction of Nexus along with other Directors through the development and implementation of the private sector engagement strategy

b)      Develop new tools and services that respond to corporate needs to increase revenues

c)       Provide trainings for business networks

d)      Manage budget

2       Oversee the development and implementation of the Communication strategy

2.1   Oversee the development of the communication strategy with members and corporate partnerships

a)       Oversee the development of the communication strategy with members and corporate partners: ensure Nexus communications team is supported with content to drive to increase Nexus brand positioning and customer loyalty

b)      Represent Nexus at regional and international events

c)        Coordinate the preparation and disseminate the Annual Report

 2.2   Management

a)      Manage and oversee projects led by the communication team

b)      Manage and secure funding for Nexus annual conference

c)       Anticipate HR needs for corporate partnerships and communication

Profile

Education and Experience

  • Minimum 5 years professional experience in business development, corporate social responsibility and/or carbon sales
  • Good knowledge of voluntary carbon markets/ carbon finance and established network of relationships with corporates engaged in carbon offsetting
  • Understanding the stakes, the challenges and the opportunities in climate and development sectors
  • Master’s Degree in Business Administration or related
  • Native English speaker with excellent writing skills
  • Excellent storyteller, networker and negotiator with different levels of stakeholders
  • Be able to work independently and contribute as a team player
